What exactly is water treatment?
Water treatment is the application of chemicals to a boiler or cooling system that prevent buildup of calcium carbonate scale ensuring better heat transfer and, therefore, less fuel consumption and  corrosion thus extending the life of your system.  Chemical treatment of cooling systems also inhibits microbial growth.

What exactly do Castle personnel do when on site?
The Castle water treatment specialist will take a water sample and conduct on site a detailed analysis of all water chemistries. Based on this analysis, s/he will apply the proper chemical to protect the system.

Do I (the customer) need to do anything?
Castle provides a turn key comprehensive water treatment program, the only required interaction will be that of the proper blowing down of the boiler. The superintendent will be asked to blow down the boiler to protect the low level water cut off system. This removal of water allows the chemical to discharge excess minerals and particulates properly.

How often should I blow down my boiler?
In general, during the heating season, the mid point of the boiler (low level cut off) should be performed at a minimum of once a week and the bottom drain valve should be blown down once a month.  After each of our service visits a detailed report is left which will modify the blow down schedule if warranted.

How do I know when a service visit is scheduled?
Notification of service visits is faxed to your office several weeks prior to the month of service.

What if I have never had water treatment?
Although you may have older metallurgy it is important to always maximize your heat transfer. It is extremely rare to find a boiler in such poor condition that it would not benefit from water treatment.

If my boiler is brand new, do I need to treat it?
Absolutely, the day a boiler is turned on it immediately starts to corrode and scale up. It is important to provide early treatment to insure the longest possible life for the boiler metallurgy.
